Suzanne Fournier is a newly published author. Her memoirs, “Life After Diapers,” is her journey from a stay-at-home mother with seven children into the workforce at the age of forty. Suzanne started as an entry level administration position and navigated through professional and education challenges while moving her family to advance her career and support her family. She retired as the director of public affairs communication for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

While working in Cincinnati, she volunteered to serve eight months in Iraq to communicate the reconstruction mission of the United States Army Corps of Engineers to the Iraq, American and International audiences. She is known for blogging as “Grandma in Iraq” on the Cincinnati Enquirer homepage.

She was promoted to lead communication for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ 35,000 employees while serving in Iraq. Upon returning from a war zone, she and her husband moved to Washington, D.C. She returned to Iraq and to Afghanistan a year later with her boss, the commanding three-star general. Fournier has been published widely within military circles and is a recognized media spokesperson for the agencies she represented.

Her story is an easy and light-hearted read, going from the daily life of a mom to the challenges of working in a mail-dominant military world and dangerous war zone. She inspires readers by talking about how her faith helped her overcome fear, lack of confidence and navigate the educational and professional challenges.

Her education includes the college of St. Mary in Omaha, University of Southern New Hampshire and University of South Carolina.

Suzanne lives with her husband Gil in Kenosha, Wisconsin. In addition to seven children, their family has expanded to include 25 grandchildren. Suzanne and Gil are members of St. Anne’s Parish in Kenosha. Their daughter Michelle Metallo regularly sings for Racine Magnificat breakfasts.

 Suzanne’s book will be available.
